Scenic Design Inspiration | Gianni Downs
The concept behind the scenery is to tie in with both the technology present in the script and to mimic the blurring of lines/faces so that the feeling of the unknown and danger lurking could be present in the design. To do this, we looked for materials that were reminiscent of technology: silver aircraft cable, plexi glass, text, silver hardware, glossy blacks etc. and used them to screen or block portions of performers in the space. The idea was to allow audience to clearly see portions of body parts behind the main playing space, but to obscure faces and people. Once we agreed on this idea, we decided to incorporate the actual texts and posts found in the script on these screens. Tieing in the action of the show with the physical structure surrounding it. The hope is that lighting can carve interesting playing spaces in and amongst these screens. |
